The Speedcross is all about mud. Its deep chevron lugs are some of the most aggressive on a mainstream trail shoe, and they bite into soft ground like few others can. Off the mud, those same lugs feel clumsy and unstable.
It suits runners on muddy, soft and grassy trails, as well as fell and cross-country routes. It grips far better than the Peregrine 15 or Speedgoat 6 in mud, and it's much worse on rock and hardpack. Know your trails before buying.
The fit is narrow and close, with Salomon's quick-lace system. A wide version is available for broader feet.
“Unbeatable in the mud, clumsy on rock and hardpack. Know your trails.”
