The Lone Peak is Altra's trail classic: zero drop, a wide toe box, and a relatively low stack that keeps you close to the ground. A full-length StoneGuard rock plate adds some protection. The ride is firm-ish and flexible, with plenty of trail feel.
It suits runners who like natural foot positioning and want their toes to spread. Most terrain is fine, from groomed singletrack to moderately technical trails. It has less cushioning than the Speedgoat 6 and more room than the Peregrine 15. If you're switching from a traditional drop, ease in gradually.
Altra's foot-shaped fit gives the forefoot plenty of room. There's a gaiter attachment for runners who like to keep debris out.
“A cult classic for a reason: your toes will thank you.”
