The Adizero Evo SL puts Lightstrike Pro, Adidas's race-shoe super foam, into a daily trainer with no carbon plate or rods, just a small shank under the midfoot. The ride is light, bouncy and responsive, and it handles both easy miles and faster sessions.
It suits runners who want race-shoe foam without a race-shoe price, for daily runs, tempos and long runs. The low 6mm drop favours midfoot strikers, though heel strikers will manage on easy days.
It is cheaper than the Endorphin Speed 5 and lighter and livelier than the Novablast 5. Without a full plate it is less snappy than the Speed 5, but more forgiving. Fit is fairly snug and race-like, so wide feet should try before buying.
“Race-shoe foam for daily miles, and the best-value fast trainer on the shelf.”
