The Vantage V3 is Polar's flagship training watch, built around its most advanced heart-rate sensor yet. You also get an AMOLED screen, offline maps and Polar's well-respected recovery and sleep tracking.
It's for runners who want reliable data and smart recovery guidance more than an app store. Against the Forerunner 970 the battery is shorter and the ecosystem smaller; against the Suunto Race 2 the heart-rate data is sharper.
Dual-band GPS is accurate, and the optical heart rate holds up better than most during intervals. Battery lasts around a week of normal use, which is on the short side for this price.
“For runners who care more about the data than the apps.”
