The Hyperion Elite 4 sets a carbon plate in Brooks's DNA Flash v2 foam. The Elite 4 PB version, sold at the same price, swaps in DNA Gold, a lighter and springier PEBA foam. The platform is wider and more planted than most racers, and the ride is smooth and steady rather than aggressively bouncy.
It suits marathoners who want a super shoe that stays composed when their form starts to fade. It isn't a stability shoe, but the broad base makes it an easier choice for runners who usually wear something like the Adrenaline GTS 24 in training.
It sits with the SC Elite v5 and Rocket X 3 in the sensible half of the race shelf, a little less exciting than the Alphafly 4 or Fast-R Nitro Elite 3. Fit is secure with a reasonable toe box, true to size for most runners.
“A dependable super shoe for runners who want stability under fatigue.”

ZoomX LT foam, a wider Flyplate and quieter Air pods, about 10 grams lighter than before.
Air pods, ZoomX and a full carbon plate, now light enough to stop apologising for.
Energy rods instead of a plate, and a rocker that rewards a forefoot strike.
