The verdict
Instead of a single plate, the Adios Pro 4 uses carbon-infused EnergyRods set into two layers of Lightstrike Pro foam, under a pronounced forefoot rocker. The ride is firmer and more connected than the bounciest super shoes, with a snappy toe-off once you get onto the front of the foot.
It rewards midfoot and forefoot strikers running at tempo to marathon pace. Runners who like some road feel, or who find the Alphaflys too vague underfoot, tend to get along with it best.
Compared with the Endorphin Elite 2 it is less forgiving but more precise, and compared with the shorter-race Takumi Sen 10 it carries far more cushion for the back half of a marathon. The fit is fairly narrow and race-snug, so wide feet should try before buying.
